Wonder Years “The Accident” Ending

This is the final scene of the episode, starting when Kevin rides over to Winnies house after hearing about her car accident. In my opinion, one of the best scenes of all 6 seasons. Here is the summary: Kevin sees Winnie for the first time since they broke up. He discovers that she and Roger have split up, too. When Winnie is in a car accident, Kevin rides over to see her at home, but her parents say she doesn’t want to see him. Kevin leaves, but returns and climbs up to Winnie’s bedroom window. They tell each other, “I love you.”

@PackerSmacker4 He hurt her too! You have to remember, they’re in junior high. This scene illustrates how bewildering and painful Winnie’s life has been since her brother was killed. She’s making bad choices but her feelings for Kevin are still there beneath all her confusion. It’s perfect. They’re not perfect. They’re kids and they’re going through hell. But they do love one another.

One of my all time favourite shows that captures what it was like back in that era.
As a grown man I would tear up on occassion watching this show.
The song at the end however was written and released in 78 which is about 6-7 yrs after the year depicted in this episode.

Unfortunately i can’t feel anything about this ending because 9 episodes earlier Winnie used the “I met someone” line & broke Kevin’s heart. Just completely takes away everything that this moment should be thinking that she did that

I know! I just watched an episode tonight and I was so super excited to see it on television. This show is so amazing and this moment has stayed with me for so long that I am glad that I was able to find it on youtube!

Incredible. The writing, the acting, the music. It’s as close to perfect as TV can get.

@thedisneygirl1234 – you are soooo right. Fortunately, many of these truly positive tv shows are available in assorted formats and I make certain my children watch them. We also get involved in assorted volunteer efforts so they understand there’s more to life than is portrayed on so many shows these days. Best Wishes & Peace Always To You.

there is not another show that even comes close to the amount of times I cried watching this show. it is a truly amazing series. I’ve been waiting and waiting for a DVD Box set, but have heard the rights to the music are very costly. It’s too bad. I would love to relive this stuff. Beautiful. I can’t put into words what I felt watching some episodes. Always so sad-happy.

    whats the song thats playing??

  • ehings12:

At the 2:49 mark, one line sums up the brilliance of the entire show: “There are things in a life that matter.”

  • clyde8her:

This is absolutely TV at it’s best…If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, then I don’t hold out much hope for you.

  • thedisneygirl1234:

It breaks my heart to know that when i am a mom my children will be watching tv shows that don’t really have any lessons or teach moral values that shows like the wonder years did.

  • miraclekitty19:

    @LACL671 same here

  • insaneweas:

That song just ruins the entire scene.

  • kirkmenendez:

The cost of securing the rights to the original music has the hopes of the series being sold on DVD on hold. And I believe this episode took place before the museum episode.

  • simont7:

They were so young when this was on. Amazing! Just sweet, though.

  • yorchish33:
